What is nopecha-extension?

NopeCHA is an automated CAPTCHA-solving browser extension for developers and teams running web scrapers, browser automation, and AI agents with Selenium, Puppeteer, Playwright, and similar tools.

What it is

NopeCHA is a browser extension, released under the MIT licence and published at nopecha-extension, that detects and solves CAPTCHA challenges automatically on the pages you visit. It sits alongside the automation frameworks developers already use — Selenium, Puppeteer, Playwright, and more — and it ships with an API Reference, Documentation, a CAPTCHA Demo, and a Developer Discord for integration support. The project is active, with releases published as recently as 0.6.2-rc.2 in August 2026, and it has gathered 11,008 stars and 228 forks on GitHub.

The concrete problem it addresses is the interruption CAPTCHAs cause in automated browsing: a scraping job, an AI agent, or a scripted workflow stalls the moment a challenge appears. NopeCHA removes that stall by handling the challenge in place, so an automated session can continue without a human stepping in. Version 0.6.0 describes exactly this kind of relief, adding richer popup solve-status and pass-rate diagnostics alongside reliability fixes across PerimeterX, GeeTest, AWS WAF, FunCAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA, Turnstile, and Firefox, while 0.6.1 extended Turnstile and PerimeterX coverage to more pages.

Key capabilities

  • Solves reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile, Arkose/FunCAPTCHA, AWS WAF, PerimeterX, GeeTest, Lemin, Yandex, and text CAPTCHA challenges, with a Text CAPTCHA math expression mode added in 0.6.0.
  • Offers configurable mouse speed and visualization, plus user-configurable input and hook methods introduced in 0.5.6.
  • Uses undetectable mouse action implementations for FunCAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA, and Cloudflare Turnstile, initially shipped for Chromium only in 0.5.4.
  • Improves bounding-box precision for canvas-based challenges and mouse action stability across supported CAPTCHAs, as delivered in 0.5.5.
  • Handles drag-and-drop and label-binary interactions, including drag-and-drop coordinate rescaling on small viewports.
  • Supports video challenges with improved click precision, and introduced online reinforcement learning for browser agents in 0.5.3.
  • Reports per-challenge results through a popup with solve-status and pass-rate diagnostics.

Who uses it and how

  • Web scrapers running extraction pipelines that would otherwise halt on challenges such as Cloudflare Turnstile or PerimeterX interstitial pages.
  • Browser automation engineers driving Selenium, Puppeteer, or Playwright sessions that must keep navigating across protected sites.
  • Teams building AI agents and bots, where the extension's online reinforcement learning for browser agents supports unattended computer-use flows.
  • Developers diagnosing solve reliability, using the popup's pass-rate diagnostics and the API Reference at nopecha.com/api-reference/ to tune input and hook methods.
  • Users on both Chromium and Firefox browsers, given the Firefox fixes noted in 0.6.0.

Getting started

NopeCHA installs as a browser extension from the project's releases page — the latest release is 0.6.2-rc.2 — and configuration is documented alongside an API Reference and a CAPTCHA Demo at https://nopecha.com/.

How it compares

The supplied facts do not name other tools in the same category for comparison, so NopeCHA stands alone in this registry.

When to use it — and when not

It suits teams already operating automated browsing who want CAPTCHA handling folded into their existing Selenium, Puppeteer, or Playwright workflow, under an MIT licence with frequent releases through 2026. It is a poor fit for anyone needing guaranteed stability on a single browser — several fixes are marked Chromium-only or beta, and 12 issues remain open. Note also that the changelog-heavy README documents releases more than installation, and some features, such as general computer-use models, remain invite-only beta.

Why Closed Source?

To maintain our edge and prevent abuse, we have chosen to restrict source code access to our browser extension. This allows us to continue providing a free-to-use service while protecting our proprietary technology and ensuring the integrity of our CAPTCHA-solving capabilities.

What Changed

We continue to publish the latest builds under GitHub releases and in the Chrome Web Store and Mozilla Add-on store, but the source code for the latest versions will no longer be publicly available.

We have archived the open-source v0.3.x branch for reference, but it is no longer maintained or supported.

The Road Ahead

We are committed to expanding support across CAPTCHA providers and improving accuracy, throughput, and cost efficiency.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we evolve our services to better serve our users and maintain the quality and reliability of our CAPTCHA-solving technology.
